On my way out of Chichen Itza, rushing so that I would not miss the tour bus, I saw these colorful skulls on a vendor table and had to make a quick stop to take this photo. I really liked the colors and the photo does them justice. I took photos at -2, 0, and +2 exposure and blended them with Photomatix. Then in Photoshop I desaturated the top corners because the skulls did not extend over to corners and the items there were distracting. Overall the photo turned out well and has received numerous positive comments by those that have seen it.
My non-technical write-up about this photo is titled, “Skulls & the Day of the Dead” over at the DogberryPatch. Here is a link for more photos I took at Chichen Itza as well as photos from the Mayan Ruins at Tulum and our stay at the Aventura Spa Palace Resort.
